MMRC Global operated for over nine months in Port au Prince, Haiti, after the devastating earthquake that occurred on January 11, 2010.
Our teams provided extensive medical support, supply logistics, and critical patient transfers to Haitian field hospitals and clinics, as well as working with PAHO as an Emergency Response Team to fight cholera in the Northern villages of Haiti.
We are proud of the work MMRC volunteers accomplished in Haiti.
Due to increased political and security concerns, Materials Management Relief Corps relocated from Haiti in the final days of 2010. After eight weeks of necessary strategic planning, we were ready to launch our new humanitarian initiative.
Our current deployment has us providing medical support to Hospital Madre Berenice in Ecuador.
Hospital Madre Berenice is found on the southern outskirts of Guayaquil in an area known as El Guasmo. The area is extremely poor and over populated. The last census (10 years ago) showed that there were over 350,000 people within a 3 mile radius of the hospital. It is estimated that today there are over 500,000.
For the entire region of El Guasmo, there are only two hospitals; both are terribly overcrowded and it is almost impossible to see a specialist in a reasonable amount of time.
We are excited and encouraged by the cooperation of the local Officials to continue the vital work of bringing medical care to the people of El Guasmo. Thank you for your continued support.
Big Paul Sebring had a thriving and lucrative fashion photography business, with clients such as Avril Lavigne, Jordin Sparks, and Blare O’Neal. Less than 48 hours after the earthquake, Paul was moved enough to leave everything behind in Tempe, AZ and relocate to Port Au Prince, Haiti do to what he could for earthquake survivors.
MMRC Global was formed in March of 2010 and has not stopped in their efforts to ease the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable.
His dedication and sacrifice for the children and people of Haiti earned him the name, “Big Paul“.
